The Touhou Project and ZUN have been nominated for the 11th annual Media Arts Plaza awards, held by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs.
The awards cover four categories - Art, Entertainment, Animation, and Manga; the Touhou Project has been nominated for the Entertainment award, sharing the stage this year with Nintendo’s Wii, a handheld game from Bandai known as Treasure Gaust, a collection of stories and predictions about the year 2027, and a very unique Flash ad for a hat company in Japan.
Previous winners of the Entertainment award include The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the AIBO robotic dog, Dragon Warrior VII, and Okami.
The results of the awards will be announced in February of 2008.
More information about this year’s nominees in all categories can be found on the MAP website here. (link in Japanese)
KirbyM at Walfas creates yet another brilliant Touhou flash! Reimu figures she doesn’t get enough donations (or any at all) for the shrine so she opens up a fast food joint instead. What kind of chaos ensues? Click to find out.

KirbyM over at Walfas released a new Touhou flash. It’s a typical-run-of-the-mill Marisa and Patchouli confrontation but still contains your typical KirbyM cuteness to it. Here it is!

A cute little game is out called MariAri (or is it MariAli considering it’s “Alice” for us and not “Arisu”?) that plays very similarly to Sleepwalker. The actual game title when you fire it up is called Marisa and Alice, but MariAri sounds cuter. You take control of Shanghai doll using your mouse and click various parts of the map while a blind Alice stumbles around. Clicking on different objects makes different things happen such as materializing a block and turning Alice around. Your goal? Lead Alice to Marisa. The game’s really basic and fun to play around with. Not too many levels yet, but it’s version 0.60 after all.
You can find a download of the game here.

CowCaster is essentially an upgraded version of Caster, an accessory which allows netplay for Touhou 7.5: Immaterial and Missing Power. Although the release occurred two days ago, I figured it’d be a good idea to announce it here as well. CowCaster features many more capabilities than the regular Caster, so for all you hardcore IaMP fans, please go check it out.
