The English patch for Ten Desires is ready!

You can download the patch by clicking the image above (or on this link). You’ll need to be sure that Ten Desires is updated to version 1.00c; you can download the game update patch from ZUN’s website (here) if you need it.

As with the Fairy Wars patch, just point the installer to the folder containing Ten Desires and hit Patch.

Like the other English patches, spellcard names in the results screen will appear in mojibake (scrambled text) until the card has been encountered once after patching, at which point the name will appear correctly in English.

ZUN has added a new post to his blog, covering some changes to the guidelines for Touhou-derived content production. There’s been a lot of news about the post increasing restrictions on derived works, although from the content of the post the net effect is not all that signifcant for most works that we enjoy in the West. The primary changes involve the distribution channels through which derived works can be offered, the use of Touhou in commercial (as opposed to doujin) works, most of which will require review and approval by ZUN. These changes shouldn’t have much effect on most fanworks that are released through the various conventions in Japan (such as albums or doujinshi); the primary targets of the change seem to be other types of merchandise such as figurines, plushies, and dakimakura.

最近、企業が作成する時に二次創作グッズが増えてきたので、それに合わせてガイドラインを改定しました。
Lately the numbers of derivative works explode when commercial works are
released, so I wanted to update the guidelines with that in mind.

derivative works, regardless of whether they're commercial or independent:
　・アニメーション（※）が主体となる作品の有償での展開
For-profit development of works whose main element is animation(*)
　・Xbox360 インディーズゲームでの販売
Sale of software on the XBox 360 Indies channel
　・AppStore や Androidマーケットでの販売（企業の方は問い合わせしてください）
Sale of software via the App Store, Android Market, etc. (for commercial
parties, please get in contact with me)
　・原作の流通（一般的な同人流通）を越えた形態での販売（海外向けのダウンロード販売等）
Sale of works in channels that are further reaching than the distribution channels
used by the original works. The original works are primarily sold in general doujin
channels. So, please refrain from using download sales sites primarily oriented for
overseas customers, etc.
　・その他過剰な性的表現や、特定の個人、団体、人種などを中傷する内容等、こちらで社会通念上著しく不適応だと判断した場合
Other works (e.g. works of excessive sexual depictions and works that would slander
a particular person, group or race) when we determine that such works are extremely

I'll leave the question of what to do with works released before this update

To install, just point it to the folder containing your TH 12.8 installation and hit Patch.

As with the other English patches, spellcard names in the Results screen will appear scrambled until the card has been seen again in the game, at which point the card name will appear correctly in English.

As we put on our fatigues and head into the Great Fairy Wars, we’ve got a patch ready for a release from Comiket 77 – a doujin game by the title of Maristice. Patchouli’s had enough, and to make sure she’ll have no more trouble from Marisa she’s confiscated our favorite black-white witch’s hakkero and broom – which prompts Marisa to start her quest to retrieve them.

A puzzle-based isometric platformer, Maristice is a tribute to the NES classic Solstice. For more information, check out the maker @N-Factory’s website. Click on the image above, or on this link to download the patch.

Installation is simple; simply download the patch, run it, and point it to the directory in which Maristice is installed. For Vista/Windows 7 users, be sure you have admin access to the install directory. The patch will only work with the full version of the game, not the demo.

Touhou Danmaku Yuugi -Flowers-

A RPG published in back 2007 by D-Vent, with rules for building loliTouhou-style characters with not only different races, abilities and skills like any RPG, but also with their own spellcards with customized danmaku spreads .

And even if you are not really into RPGs, it is still worth checking it out, since the book is gorgeously illustrated by seven different artists including some famous Touhou illustrators like Katzeh and Tokiame. (And who knows? You might find out that you do have an interior RPG nerd after all.)

Be sure to patch the game to version 1.10; you can download the patch at Tasofro’s website – look for the download titled “東方非想天則 Update File Ver1.10″.

If you have both games but don’t have access to TH10.5 content from TH12.3, you’ll need to edit the configex123.ini file in the TH12.3 directory. Change the “path=” variable under [th105path] to the folder in which you have TH10.5 installed.
