Gaku Olympic Update

Time for another update, which comes right in time to commemorate Tokyo’s winning bid for the 2020’s Olympics. Good thing for the rest of the world that Gensokyo is sealed away nowadays, or else the games would be drowned in youkai and magic hackery.

Anyway, there’s some great releases this time as well, two Tohonifun ones, two Reimu and Cirno ones, plus the first part in a promising series by Carcharias and much more. So, enjoy!

Tohonifun – Solar Eclipse – Latter Part

Seiga carries on with her plan to bring a different kind of zombie apocalypse to Gensokyo, and manages to get a surprisingly number of allies. Epic confrontation ensues.

Tohonifun – Majin

What leads a human like Hijiri to make friends and become an icon to youkai? Is it pure compassion?

Carcharias – Soga no Tojiko Will Not Talk: Chapter of Harmony

First in a series of books about the story of the Hall of Dreams characters, from the point of view of Tojiko. Starts a little silly and gets really serious and complex real fast.

Honey Sakura – Cirno and Reimu’s 1-2-3 Volume 8

After being “erased” by Yukari, Cirno ends up in a strange place, where she has to find her own self again.

Honey Sakura – Cirno and Reimu’s 1-2-3 Volume 9

As Keine helps Cirno regain her own self, the folks back in Gensokyo decide it’s time to give a help as well.

Vivit Gray – Flower Bouquet and Prism Compilation

Well, not exactly a new book, but rather a compilation of Vivit Gray’s Keine x Mokou stories, with some additional material.

KirororO -Rest in Peace 1

A rather violent take on Sakuya’s origin story at the SDM. (Note: some graphic violence.)

Giselebon – Adjoining Reality and Illusion

As New Year arrives, Mary wonders about the future of her relationship with Mary and their club.

Giselebon – A Dream of Changing Leaves

A short story about Shizuha jealous of her sister’s popularity.

Ruiseki Crater – Flyer

A quirky story with a quirky art style about Koishi going to play with Reimu at the shrine.

Only fitting that two Cirno stories should be part of the Cirno Day post…

You might want to fire most of the people who worked on Solar Eclipse. The translation is terrible – the grammar is flawed, the sentences are clunky and awkward, and in places, the dialogue barely makes sense (“is your master’s orders are righteous”).
People are relying on you to do passable translations, and with things like this, you’r doing both the fans and the authors a huge disservice.

Not one but TWO Honey Sakuras? YES PLEASE!

@2 Indeed, they should ‘fire’ all those translators and editors who devoted their free time to complete this series, eh?
Whether or not the translations are passable, you should be more respectful when stating your opinions.

Wow, thanks so much for these. I had somehow never seen that Vivit Gray stuff before, and it is excellent. I put a + next to the comics in my collection that I really like and might want to re-read, and that one is now one of just two comics out of the thousands I have that has a ++ next to it. This totally made my day.

@2 It’s easier to fire you. Oh wait, you’re not employed!

That aside, Gaku release day means it’s a good day.

You know. It’s a damn shame about tohonifun. The artist has amazing art. Good enough to, dare I say it, make it into an issue of Jump one of these days. Too bad… the plotlines are making absolutely no sense. You know what happens to a story with a plot that makes no sense? They vanish.

Ten Desire character really starting to gain momentum. I’m really liking most the characters now. I do like Tohonifun is taking the characters to an absurd level. Its really refreshing.

    Thanks for the releases.

Jeez, I do wish Solar Eclipse had had a proofreader or something. A great story pretty much messed up by it’s hit and miss translation.

It’s not that the translators should be “fired” or something along those lines. The series should have gone under (better) translation checks before getting released; I appreciate the translators for their effort in translating these.

For those who would like to help in proofreading, I suggest you guys visit (lots of stuff happening in Patchy’s mysterious magic library).

Tohonifun’s and Carcharias’ are pretty awesome, Giselebon’s is adorable >.<

    oh, and Honey Sakura~
When will Cirno and Reimu's 1-2-3 Volume 10 be released (and translated)? No update so far in her pixiv..

"Gaku release day means it’s a good day."

Gaku release day is best day.

    Thanks for your hard woooork!

I hate Honey Sakura and their random doujins but I can’t stop reading them.

And @rainbowkouji, wow, what an asshole!

I’m pretty sure “KirororO -Rest in Peace 1” has already been posted earlier this year. I remember this story being grimdark as hell.
It’s from 2009, has the author even continued this work? I’d love to see the other parts, but can’t seem to find anything.

The circle released Rest in Peace II & III a few months ago, though no one has scanned them yet.
