Dreamer’s Party is what you get if you stick Touhou in a blender with an RPG. It’s a 2D based shooting game using the WASD keys for movement, and the mouse for aiming.

The demo features several set scenarios where you fight another character, or fairies with your level preset and collect points, but ultimately, that’s it. However in the full version, you earn experience and money which allows you to upgrade your spellcards and generally be more powerful.

In the demo there are two characters avaliable to play as, Marisa and Yukari, each (Obviously) with different spell cards but you get a chance to fight Youmu, Reimu and Remilia in the levels avaliable. You left-click to attack and right-click to sort through you cards, both characters have a weak rapid fire attack, 2 intermediate spell cards and their final spell, slow to charge, but highly damaging.

Fortunately, you can take multiple hits before dying, however against some attacks, this goes very quickly, as usual, you use your hitbox, which is small, but never seems to be small enough.

The music is of decent quality, done by Golden City Factory although again, since it’s a demo, there is little content.

The demo is quite fun, and I look forward to the full release, however there are quite a few problems in the demo that I hope they’ll fix, there’s a few graphical errors, and parts of the game that just look bad quality, then there’s the gameplay problems, such as when the portrait of the enemy announcing a spell-card appears, you can’t see yourself OR the bullets, which don’t disappear. Also, your own portrait fades for you, but not for the enemy, so there has been a time for me where Remilia appears there and lasered me without me knowing it was coming… But hopefully, it will be fixed.

Overall, I quite enjoyed the demo and I hope that the full version improves on this.
