SWRS English Translation Is Go!

TH12.3 - SWRS English Translation Patch

The English translation for Touhou Hisoutensoku is complete! You can download it at this link, or head over to the new patches section for additional patch notes – check the tabs at the top of the page or click on this link to get there.

Be sure to patch the game to version 1.10; you can download the patch at Tasofro’s website – look for the download titled “東方非想天則 Update File Ver1.10″.

If you have both games but don’t have access to TH10.5 content from TH12.3, you’ll need to edit the configex123.ini file in the TH12.3 directory. Change the “path=” variable under [th105path] to the folder in which you have TH10.5 installed.

Big thanks as always go out to the patch team: Akira, TMN, Mefidex, Halbarad, and mauve!

We’ve been doing it, it’s just taken awhile, that’s all.

I’ll be monitoring this (and other) threads for awhile for bug reports, though I dunno if we’ll do anything about them.

I think I fixed the Vista/7 install problems, but if they still happen, just make sure the installer can write to the Soku folder.

  7. April 18th, 2010 | 8:55 pm

No install problems here except for the Windows theme reverting to a basic theme (fixable by restarting).

Tasofro’s patcher has some strange issues. Not our fault, really.

Best I can say is make sure that there are no kanji in your folder name and it should work. It does install the files somewhere, so if it screws up see if you can find where it put them and copy them over to the main folder.

  27. GregW17
    April 19th, 2010 | 12:06 pm

If you’re using Tasofro’s patcher run with your system locale set in Japanese (dunno if AppLocale can help or not) or use mauve’s method. Unicode apps don’t transfer over that well between languages…

That said, thanks for this release! No more struggling to read spell cards and stuff!

  40. grgspunk
    April 20th, 2010 | 1:20 am

    @udonge

When you’re selecting the folder location in the patch installation prompt, it always adds a “/th123″ in front of the folder address and messes up the address location. For example, if you choose “C:\Program Files”, it will show up in the patch’s address bar as “C:\Program Files\th123

If you haven’t installed the game using the default folder address, you’ll need to delete the “\th123″ in the address bar after selecting the folder location.

Neko: I’m pretty sure that’s just you, the endings have been thoroughly tested. I do not know what would be causing that, sorry, though my first guess would be a font-related issue.

udonge: There are only three story modes. 12.3 is a minor expansion, not a full-sized game. If you want to play other characters, it’s arcade, versus, or practice only.

    Hi, I have a problem.
I installed the update th123_update_110 with Applocale, in the th123 folder. My game path is:
    D:\To\Touhou Series\Games\Touhou 123 Unthinkable Natural Law\th123
(it generates another th123 in the th123 folder), then the english patch but got the th123e error window “hisoutensoku is not patched!”. What can i do to solve this? Any help is welcomed.

  49. Digara
    April 21st, 2010 | 3:13 am

Lagunax, simply copy and paste all the stuff into the same folder, make sure all the files are replaced with the larger versions. I did this and everything ran without a hitch, appreciate the effort this must’ve taken to do.

Dang, I’ve been really waiting and hoping for this. Good Job to the translators.

Although, I did find a syntax error. The word “broken” in the dialogs are misspelled as “brocken”. Secondly, regarding one of Patchouli’s spells: Emerald Megalopolis. Wasn’t it supposed to be named Emerald Megalith as per english version? I ask this since I understood this spell to be a fighter style mod of her spell from EOSD, or is it just me being picky on names? That, or they are two different spells entirely, LOL.

But all in all, excellent job to everybody. I, for one appreciate the effort on part of all those who influenced in the creation of this patch. Thank You.

  57. mauve
    April 23rd, 2010 | 2:48 pm

Brocken is correct. Google up Brocken Spectre. It’s an actual thing. It’s even covered in the translation notes.

Emerald Megalopolis is also correct, if you look at the kana used for the spellcard(エメラルドメガロポリス, emerarudo megaroporisu), there is no confusion.

Can anyone help me because when I try to play the english version it says to patch it to 1.10 and i got the update and ran through it but is says it still doesn’t work

  59. Dan
    April 25th, 2010 | 12:52 pm

When you use the patch to update to 1.10, point to your game folder. After the update completes you will find a folder named th123 in the game folder. Copy the contents of the th123 folder into the game folder before running the English patch.

Thanks to all the hackers and translators for this awesome patch!

There seems to be some minor problems with the translation of some phrases:
Reimu’s spell card “Ying-Yang Sanctifier Orb” should be “Yin-Yang …”.
Patchouli’s skill card “Force Lasher” should be “Fall Slasher” (Fall = Autumn). If it was “Force Lasher”, it should have been written as “フォース ラッシャー” instead of “フォールス ラッシャー” in original Japanese version.
Marisa’s spell card “Magical Research …”(魔廃…) may be mistranslated. “廃” is short for “廃棄物”, which means “litter” or “waste”, and the kanji which means “research” is “発”. The same goes for Marisa’s skill card “マジカル産廃再利用ボム”.
Suwako’s spell card “2 bows, 2 Claps, 1 Bow”, the first letter of “bow” is not capitalized.

I hope these problems will be fixed in future version. Again thanks to all the localizers.

The English Patch works perfectly, as does the V1.10 update (when I start the game up, the title bar says “Touhou Hisentoku V1.10″)

But it doesn’t clear up this problem: Every time I beat Reimu as Sanae in story mode, the game crashes after the post fight dialogue. I don’t know how to fix that. When I start story mode, Sanae is the only playable character. Is that natural?
